The campus has been freaking the fuck out. There was a crowd of people on the hill chanting and singing and clapping and cheering and dancing and streaking and flipping a shit. Then everyone gathered in the student center to watch the speech. Then there was a dance party in the courtyard. A fucking dance party.

I can't believe this. So happy.

There are SO MANY GENERALIZATIONS here.

I'm not saying some of the issues cited aren't REAL issues. They absolutely are. But seriously, he is making some of the most sweeping generalizations I have ever read. I wrote my final paper for Gender on this issue and I would like to share some of it, but I am not sure how to.. I think I'll do it in parts? Today I will post the Introduction and Part I and if people are interested in reading more, let me know and I will post the second and third parts.

It's disgusting. Four detectives against a few black men who were most likely drunk, as it was the night of this man's bachelor party. 50 shots at an unarmed, terrified young man. 50 shots. When is that EVER necessary? Ever? That's not self-defense. That is murder. One shot in the leg would have done it. And the law protects them.

It makes me afraid to live in a country where things like this can happen and the police can get away with that.

And don't even get me started on the race and class issue..

It's a tragedy. He was two days from marriage. Can you imagine losing the man you were marrying in two days? They had two children... who lost their father at the expense of a corrupt justice system.

I am making this entry in order to give anyone who so desires to have a place in which to post a secret. I feel like I can empathize with the desire to let things out but not being able to for whatever reason. It isn't fun!

This is not just another meme. It is a sincere outreach. I don't expect any replies. And I promise that if I happen to get any, I won't attempt to guess who it is. I will not give it a second thought outside of this post (unless you specify that you'd like me to).
